Interviewing: Amanda Brohman

I'm so excited to publish my first interview with the lovely Amanda Brohman. She calls herself a 17-year old fashion blogger, high school student, daugther, sister and general dreamer from Sweden. I admire her style and the way she combines different, unique clothing items. I had the honor to ask her some questions, I'm really interested in. And hopefully, you too. And while saying this: Thank you so much for your detailed answers Amanda. Enjoy the interview :)

How is Sweden? Do you like living there?

A: Sweden is a very beautiful and great country to live in, in many ways. The nature can be absolutely stunning, schools and medical care are free for everyone and it's a very safe place. But we also have really cold weather for about 6 months each year and I am so tired of the huge amounts of snow in the winters so I'm definitely gonna think about moving to another country for some time after I graduate from high school! 

When did you start do be interested in fashion?

A: I get this question a lot, basically in every interview I make, and I have no short answer to it! I was quite a nerd a few years ago and I couldn't care less about fashion, then something happened and I realized I had to spend my time doing something other than reading books, books, books all of the time. So I began to enjoy reading fashion magazines and I began to put different looks together (they were all a terrible mix of weird items back then, haha!) and somehow I realized I actually had some talent in fashion, I had some talent in styling and seeing clothes and that was when I became interested for real! 

What is your favorite thing to do, where do you relax the most?

A: When I've answered all of the e-mails I have to answer, when I've done all of the school work I need to do and when I can just sit at the computer, browsing through my favourite blogs on Bloglovin' while at the same time editing my own photos for my next blog post and listening to music. It's something extremely relaxing and joyful in that, for me. I love those moments! 

When and why did you started blogging?

A: I started blogging not very long ago, in the fall/winter of 2010 - so a little less than a year ago! At the time I started blogging because I wanted to share my interest in fashion with others fashion addicts, I never realized what an impact fashion bloggers have these days and how fast my blog would grow when I began blogging! But now, just about 9 months later I can spot my picture in magazines like the Korean Vogue Girl and NYLON Japan, it really is mind-blowing but in a good way! 

You still go to school, right?! What do your friends and classmates say about your style?

A: Yes, I do! I'm in my second year at high school right now, actually. Um, well they don't really say a lot and I love them for that, haha! I talk so much about my blog in my spare time doing interviews (like this one) and so on, so it's really nice when you can be with people and talk about other things. There are people who come up to me and ask me about me blog in my city, though, when I'm at the mall for example. But in my school, not so much. People around me are also so incredibly stylish so I get a lot of my inspiration from them as well! 

What are your must haves this fall/winter season?

A: I never really have "must-haves" for any season, or maybe I do I just don't admit it to myself or to others, haha! But I really am into these big, knitted sweaters you see everywhere - perfect for the chilly autumn weather and are great match to skinny jeans, white shirts and platform heels, so gorgeous! 

I love your Jeffrey Campbell Litas! But are they really comfortable?

A: Thank you, Sophia! Yes, as a matter of fact they are pretty comfortable for being so extremely high! Flat shoes are always the most comfy but I don't really care about super-comfortable shoes these days, I'd rather go for super-cool shoes like the Jeffrey Campbell's and they are not bad at all to walk in! 

How tall are you actually?

A: I am 168 cm (5'6) tall, I wish I would have been a bit taller though! 

What is your favorite song at the moment?

A: I seriously cannot pick just one! I love music and I have so many favourite songs right now. But I really LOVE Beyoncé's most recent song Best Thing I Never Had, it's such a great song with a message I totally relate to. 

Who takes your pictures?

A: It's either my wonderful mom or my best friend Cornelia, they are both absolutely wonderful and talented and I love them! 

What is a tip you can give all the new fashionistas here in the world?

A: Oh, I don't know...I think I am a rather 'new' fashionista as well so I might not be the most experienced one to give out advice since I am still figuring things out! But just be your own, don't copy someone else, because no one wants a copy. Also remember that if you want to be successful in fashion (or in anything for that matter) you really need to be willing to work extremely hard and accept that some people will always give you bad feedback and bad comments and that's their problem, not yours. But mostly, don't be afraid to try on new things - that's how you'll develop your style!
